Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
